While most people picture Miami Beach as a wild spring break destination. I find there are many opportunities to relax and experience a quieter side of Miami accompanied with luxury. During my recent stay at The Palms Hotel and Spa in Mid Beach Miami, I found the perfect balance of luxury and sustainability. It was perfect to relax knowing I was staying somewhere that cared for the environment around them.

The Palms Hotel and Spa is known to be one of the most eco-conscious hotels in Miami Beach. It is perfect for families, couples, or those looking for some R & R like me.
Mid Beach is probably my favorite spot to stay in Miami Beach. It is away from the noise and touristy area of South Beach, but close enough to my favorite places to eat and shop. Also, it is close to great nightclubs when the time comes to go out again. I love Mid Beach and the Palms Hotel and Spa is located directly on the beach. Not only do you have a beautiful pool to lounge around during the day, but you can easily access the beach. There are beach chairs/cabanas on the waterfront for those looking to get a little sandy.
Taking a relaxing vacation during this crazy time was exactly what I needed and the access to the beach as well as being in a quieter less crazy section of Miami was perfect. I was able to easily access one of my favorite neighborhoods of Miami, Wynwood for a change of scenery and to see the famous Wynwood Walls. Also, there were plenty of shops including a popup shop at the Faena Bazaar close by which was nice to explore.
Walking into the large french doors that opened into what felt like a tropical oasis with lighting that instantly relaxed me as I walked through the door. The large open space that opened up the lobby area showcased the restaurant and bar off in the background and the cafe/shop off to my right. I loved that I could wake up to some amazing coffee every morning and not have to venture off far. Coffee is everything to me and the barista at their shop was muy Bueno!
The hotel was also being extremely careful and had a contactless check-in minimizing touchpoints between guests as well as the front desk. There were sanitizing stations near the elevators and a limit on the number of guests in the elevator at once. The bellman took my things up to my room and I was able to relax immediately upon arrival.
There were enhanced cleaning measures and mask policies at the hotel to keep guests safe.
Why did I choose to stay at The Palms Hotel and Spa? Simply put there are a few hotels that focus on green initiatives in Miami Beach. This was one of the most recognized eco-conscious hotels in Miami. Also, it is sustainable without diminishing the luxurious experience of a 5-star hotel in Miami.
The Palms Hotel and Spa are as green as it gets in Florida with a few accreditations including being a Silver Level TripAdvisor Green Leader, a 3 palm rating by Florida Green Lodging, and is LEED-certified. They also are attempting to eliminate single-use plastic at their hotel.
Also, the hotel is “inspired by nature” and has programs to reduce, reuse, and recycle that aim to positively impact the Miami Beach area. They have a fill a bucket challenge that allows guests to pick up a bucket to fill up trash they may see on the beach. I loved being able to relax knowing I was staying at an eco-conscious hotel that was aiming to be as responsive to the environment as it was its guests.
A Luxury Hotel In Miami With A Room With A View
The Palm Hotel and Spa has 251 rooms, with 78 oceanfront rooms that I can highly recommend as the best sustainable luxury hotel in MiamiI was so happy with my oceanfront room, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the clear blue waters of Miami Beach. The decor and view definitely made me feel like I was staying at a luxury hotel in Miami. The experience of staying on Miami Beach is one that will always be remembered.
My favorite part of my room was the view, but also that there were two spaces for the shower and bathroom. That way if someone wanted to take a shower someone else could use the bathroom.
I could wake up and stare out at the view of Miami Beach for ages. Also, I loved the nice touch of Aveda Products in the bathroom. (A gentle reminder to check out the Aveda Spa on the property). Another thing I loved about the room was the very comfortable bed. There are a few rooms with suites that have balconies as well. Or connecting rooms if you were traveling with family.
As per the theme of the hotel, the food is also sustainably sourced. The Palms restaurant provides a delicious selection of natural gourmet cuisine at the restaurant. I ate an amazing breakfast overlooking the pool on the wrap-around porch. There was also a happy hour at the hotel bar that included food and drinks from 5 pm- 7 pm Sunday thru Thursday.
There is usually a farm-to-table restaurant, but due to covid that will be put on hold for a while longer.
The Palms Aveda Spa
Aveda’s only destination spa in Miami Beach is located at The Palms Hotel and Spa. The spa is 5,000 square feet and includes an Indoor/Outdoor relaxation area, poolside treatment cabanas, a beauty salon, and fitness area. They offer half-day treatments, mini-retreats, and offer amazing packages with your stay. I honestly love the idea of getting an outdoor massage by the pool, don’t you?
My Favorite Part of My Stay At A Luxury Hotel in Miami?
The expansive outdoor space created an element of being lost in a tropical paradise. I was close enough to the action of Miami Beach with the boardwalk and beach at my doorstep. It was great to take a bike ride to South Beach or head to the ocean. I was able to chill by the pool with attentive pool service and lush greenery. The grounds had many areas to relax away from other guests. While I have traditionally loved Miami for its nightlife, this trip was about exploring the outdoors. I was able to get outdoors to an outdoor SoulCycle class, wake up for sunrise for a walk on the beach, and relax by the poo. There was also resident parrots at the hotel.
My stay at The Palms Hotel and Spa was amazing and I will be back. I wouldn’t expect anything less from a 5-star luxury hotel in Miami. It allowed me to relax, enjoy the beach, and feel a world away from the chaos of the world. Isn’t that what a vacation is all about?
My suggestion is to book this beachside hotel in Miami for your next stay. If you want to extend your stay longer to explore more of Miami check out their sister boutique hotel Circa39.
